4–5 October 2025 — Bonifacio Global City, Taguig, Philippines (GCASH and AWS Offices)

AWS Community Day Manila 2025 kicked off this morning with a lively crowd of developers, cloud architects, engineers, and IT enthusiasts gathering in Bonifacio Global City to share practical insights and hands‑on learning around AWS technologies. The event began with welcoming remarks that underscored the importance of community‑driven knowledge sharing, delivered by an AWS Philippines representative who set the tone for two days of collaboration, learning, and real‑world cloud application discussions. Peer‑led community days like this are designed to bridge AWS core capabilities with local developer needs through experience‑based talks and workshops.

The opening keynote was delivered by Raphael Quisumbing, AWS Community Hero and Head of Product Innovation, who framed the summit around the theme of “Cloud Skills for Community Builders,” encouraging attendees to think of cloud mastery as both a technical and social endeavor that strengthens local tech ecosystems. Quisumbing shared stories of how AWS services have been used in regional projects and emphasized the value of mentorship within the developer community.

Following the keynote, Raphael Jambalos, also an AWS Community Hero, took the stage to explore practical strategies for architecting scalable applications using serverless technologies. Drawing on insights from workshops and community projects, Jambalos illustrated best practices for combining AWS Lambda, API Gateway, and DynamoDB to achieve robust, cost‑effective solutions for startups and enterprise workloads alike.

Another highlight came from Joshua Arvin Lat, AWS Machine Learning Hero, whose session explored machine learning adoption on AWS platforms. Lat walked through examples of deploying ML models with Amazon SageMaker and leveraging managed AI services for real‑time inference — reinforcing how developers can embed intelligent features into their applications with minimal overhead.

Aldwyn Cabarrubias, Senior Operations Engineer at ING Hubs Philippines, energized the crowd with a talk on cloud operational excellence, emphasizing infrastructure automation, best practices for observability, and cost optimization strategies that help teams maintain performance and reliability in production environments. Cabarrubias’ real‑world examples resonated with practitioners who juggle delivery timelines with operational rigor.

The community voices continued with Cyrus Pastelero, an experienced software engineer whose practical session demystified containerization with Amazon ECS and Fargate. Pastelero showed how teams can modernize legacy applications by incrementally adopting container‑based workflows that improve portability and deployment agility.

Throughout the two days, attendees participated in hands‑on workshops where they deployed applications using infrastructure‑as‑code, configured cloud services, and experimented with Amazon S3, AWS IAM, and container orchestration tools under the guidance of AWS User Group Philippines leaders. Panels also dove into cloud governance, DevOps integration, and hybrid cloud strategies, reflecting on how organizations are leveraging AWS services to accelerate digital transformation. AWS Community Day Manila 2025 covered cloud architecture fundamentals, serverless computing, DevOps practices, AI/ML applications, and cost optimization, providing a comprehensive, practitioner‑focused experience.
